The Media and Democracy Coalition is a collaboration of over two dozen local and national organizations committed to amplifying the public's voice in shaping media and telecommunications policy.
A free and vibrant media, full of diverse and competing voices, is the lifeblood of America's democracy and culture, as well as an engine of growth for its economy. Therefore, it is absolutely crucial that the public be aware of and engaged in media policy.

We are working to stop media consolidation by halting attempts that would loosen ownership caps on radio and television or would allow cross ownership of newspapers and broadcast outlets in individual media markets, while also supporting policies that promote diverse, independent and minority ownership of media that serve community needs. We are working to guarantee that everyone can access an open, affordable, and fast Internet, including support for policy that would bridge the digital divide and would promote rather than prohibit public efforts to create such networks. We are committedd to promoting polcies that protect network neutrality, insuring that every legal application and service on the Web is delivered across the Internet without discrimination by network service providers.
